I don't teach math so I can't really give you any of my insight, but from what I hear they did NOT like it at the beginning of the year because it teaches the kids SEVERAL different ways to do a problem. However, I hear lots of teachers say that they like it now after almost a year of implementation. It's big on word problems and small group/individual remediation on a daily basis.

Good luck!

Shannon
http://www.irunreadteach.wordpress.comShannonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13149662695273911122noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6160220308619604227.post-3486785405754274772013-04-12T17:06:55.702-04:002013-04-12T17:06:55.702-04:00We have EnVisions. It's definitely more challenging than our previous program. It says its aligned with CCSS, but it isn't really. They were reaching on some topics. My district is adopting a supplemental curriculum called Math Solutions. It was developed with the help of Marilyn Burns. I don't know much about it, but it is supposed to be good at utilizing manipulatives.4321Teachhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15704593923409212075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6160220308619604227.post-45856417853236829482013-04-11T21:26:37.999-04:002013-04-11T21:26:37.999-04:00Not familiar with those - we use Investigations in...Not familiar with those - we use Investigations in our district. Also very hands on with many manipulatives and math games, but a little too light on practice in my opinion.

Corrina

Mrs. Allen's 5th Grade Files
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10804742011207215718noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6160220308619604227.post-89007550775427639102013-04-11T20:10:16.060-04:002013-04-11T20:10:16.060-04:00I use envisions and it has things in their program...I use envisions and it has things in their program that is not common core! My only complaint is that the reading level seems a little high for my beginning first graders and those still struggling with reading at this time of the year.

Crystal Shepherd
lucytumnus@gmail.com
The lamppost in 1st grade math
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13279500903118514114noreply@blogger.com
