Back to School Essentials

I have a little more than a month left until we go back to school-but there are always things that are on my list for each year!

So I'm linking up with The Teaching Thief for her Back to School Essentials linky.

Now, I do have a budget through the school that lets me order most of my own supplies-I'm very lucky that way!

First up, always and forever, as long as I live, I will need

Chart Paper and Mr. Sketch markers

Even if I have leftovers, I always order new. I use them for morning messages, as well as anchor charts, and collaborative work with kids.

My next item I discovered at the end of last year-and I loved them even more than flair pens!

G2 pens! I love them so much, that not only did I order more at the beginning of last year, I also ordered the mega-pack for this year!

I just love the way they write, and the fact that they come in cute colors. They're also a little bit thinner {writing wise} than flair pens, and I find them easier to write with.

Another thing I always need is yellow newsprint paper (and white-although we use a lot more of the yellow!)

We use this for almost everything that doesn't go into notebooks-writing drafts, spelling pretest, quick answers, math, etc.

I also stock up on notebooks! I do have the kids share the load on this one-if I bought all the notebooks we use for all the kids, I would be broke!

Last year, I managed to get into Target when they were having their clearance on school supplies-so I was able to pick up notebooks for something like 7 cents. I'll definitely be trying to stock up for next year again like that!

Last, and certainly not least, the two essentials that are the biggest must have ever

Pencils and cap erasers (which makes the pencils last sooooo much longer! I swear that some of my kids eat the erasers off of the pencils sometimes...)

You can't get anything done without the writing tools!

What are some of you must haves?

Kaitlyn

  1. Great list! I think I am going to need to stop up on notebooks this year too. The time has come and my back stock is not fully depleted, lol. Thanks for linking up and sharing your must haves! :)

  2. I'm so with you on the Mr. Sketch and the flair pens. My must-have list also includes smelly stickers. Even big kids will work hard for smelly stickers! I also go through a forest of sticky notes!
